WELCOME TO
THE THORVERTON ARMS

Our friendly establishment offers a traditional and comfortable bar serving an extensive range of drinks including well-kept local cask ales and west country ciders; a restaurant making delicious use of amazing produce from nearby land, air and sea; a café where you can enjoy freshly-ground Devon-roasted coffees with pastries, traditional tea cakes or a Devon cream tea all day; and last, but not least, cosy bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Popular with both locals and visitors, there is always someone interesting to talk to, including well-behaved dogs with their families.

In the winter, we have an open log fire and, for warmer times, there is a large south-facing patio and grassed garden with one of the oldest wisterias in Devon. We have plenty of free parking for guests, and free WiFi.

Stephen and Allison Toogood

We are the proprietors and have been fully hands-on with our lively and helpful team of local staff since we took over in 2009. Stephen has many interests including singing, talking, eating, brewing and cider-making. Allison shares some of these!

Now we are open all day from 9am (except Sundays), we are concentrating on the bed and breakfast, the café and the cellar, and have been joined by Duane, who is operating our restaurant, and his partner Pauline, who manages front of house operations and special events

4 REASONS TO CHOOSE THE THORVERTON ARMS

Well-kept local cask ales and west country ciders; a restaurant making delicious use of amazing produce from nearby land, air and sea; a café where you can enjoy freshly-ground Devon-roasted coffees with pastries, traditional tea cakes or a Devon cream tea all day; and last, but not least, cosy bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

‘We enjoyed our three days at the Thorverton Arms, a lovely original building not spoiled by being over- restored or over-prettyfied. It is in a great location for walking and cycling in the beautiful Exe Valley and estuary, and a great alternative to staying in the traffic and bustle of Exeter. We enjoyed Stephen’s excellent breakfasts.’

‘We had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The bar was very lively. The beer garden under the wisteria was charming. There was an excellent green for walking the dog close by.’

‘This is the second time we have stayed at this pub. Again the welcome, the rooms and food were a good standard. I like the welcome and attentiveness the staff and the owner give you.’
