A friendly establishment offering a traditional and comfortable bar serving an extensive range of drinks including well-kept local cask ales and west country ciders; a restaurant making delicious meals using fantastic local produce; and last, but not least, cosy bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms.

Popular with both locals and visitors, there is always someone interesting to talk to. We welcome families and well-behaved dogs.

In the winter, we have an open log fire and, for warmer times, there is a large south-facing patio and grassed garden with one of the oldest wisterias in Devon. We have plenty of free parking for guests, and free WiFi.

Your new host Sheila looks forward to welcoming both new customers and regulars, locals and visitors. With help from friends, family, our chef Nick and a small dedicated team of local staff, we hope to provide a relaxed and informal atmosphere with year-round service.

Set in a beautiful little Devonshire village, with plenty of countryside walks to enjoy;

Well-kept local cask ales and west country ciders;

Cosy bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms & excellent breakfasts;

and last, but not least,

Our restaurant, making delicious use of amazing produce from nearby land, air and sea

‘We enjoyed our three days at the Thorverton Arms, a lovely original building not spoiled by being over- restored or over-prettyfied. It is in a great location for walking and cycling in the beautiful Exe Valley and estuary, and a great alternative to staying in the traffic and bustle of Exeter. We enjoyed Stephen’s excellent breakfasts.’

‘We had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The bar was very lively. The beer garden under the wisteria was charming. There was an excellent green for walking the dog close by.’

‘This is the second time we have stayed at this pub. Again the welcome, the rooms and food were a good standard. I like the welcome and attentiveness the staff and the owner give you.’
